The Hand Tools Institute (HTI), founded in 1935, is the trade association of North American manufacturers of non-powered hand tools and tool boxes. Membership in HTI is open to North American non-powered hand tool manufacturers. The objectives of the Institute are to promote and further the interests of its members relative to manufacturing, safety, standardization, international trade, and government relations. HTI is a member of the American National Standards Institute, the National Safety Council and the Product Liability Alliance An important objective of the Institute is to educate the hand tool user on the safe and proper use of hand tools. As part of its Safety Education Program, HTI offers books, posters, and other materials for sale, offers press releases, and participates in Safety and Education related trade shows.
